The Family of Robert Livingston

This is the family of Robert Livingston, First Lord of the Manor (1654
- 1728), a younger son of {Reverend} John Livingston (1603 - 1672).
The Sewell family is descended through Robert's older brother, James Livingston
(1646 - 1700).

Alvida Schuyler Van Rensselaer (1656 - 1727), daughter of Phillip Pieterse

Livingston who married {Chief
Justice} William Smith of New York.

Their daughter Harriet Livingston (1786 - 1824) married Robert
Fulton (1765 - 1815) who, in 1807, built the "Clermont", the first successful
steamboat in the United States. Robert Fulton was a partner of Robert
R. "The Chancellor" Livingston.

Their great X4 grandson is Robert Linlithgow "Bob" Livingston, the Washington
D.C. lobbyist and former chairman of the American House of Representatives
Appropriations Committee.
